I got a 1991 Lumina, automatic with a 3.1. My dad and I just swaped out engines, everything works but the charging system. I had the alternater tested and it passed. Im wondering if we hooked one of the wires up wrong. Any suggestions?

You should have one large red wire at the back of the alternator and a connector that plugs into the bottom side.

Where does the red wire hook up. One end hooks to the alternator, where does the other side go? When we changed engines we unhooked everything and we forgot where it came from.

Ok, I got an answer from a friend that it needs hooked up to my starter, because that would connect it to my battery. Couldnt I just hook it straight to my battery?
