car starts when it wants to

Car sometimes won't start after turned off. After sitting a while, sometimes it will start, sometimes not.

i would start with replacing the fuel filter,

Thanks for responding. We have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, and idle position sensor. It's a mystery. We would really love it if someone could give us the answer.
