2003 Chevy Lumina Fan not start

140,000 MILES • 6 CYL • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

Not all the time only two time alert appeared for engine heatup and temperature goes up I shutdown engine and start after five minutes it works fine.

At sometime fan not starting.

Please suggest and advise.

Check and test the thermostat, coolant temperature sensor and engine temperature gauge switch and fan relay
