2001 Chevy Lumina shifter problem

When I go to take the shifter out of park and put in another gear, it is difficult to shift. I have had this car since 2001 and this just started.

It sound like the linkage may need lubericated. You can try spraying WD40 or = on the linkage under the hood. Let me know if it helps.
