Air Conditioning problem
2001 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120k miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
The air works great, so long as I maintain a steady speed, slow down, or accelerate slowly. But, if I have to accelerate rapidly, such as getting to highway speeds, the a/c quits until I get to speed and let off the fuel. In Oklahoma, this allows time for the car to get very hot inside. Someone told me this might be due to a vacuum leak, but if anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated, I can't find a vacuum diagram for this car. Thanks

They are correct. Most likely cause is vacuum loss to the vacuum tank or cannister. I think its located in the lower drivers side fender area. It's job is to hold a specific amount of vacuum for high demand situations, so that X amount of vacuum is stored in the cannister to keep your AC blowing in the right place under high acceleration....keeping it simple. Very rare for the cannister itself to leak. Most likely vacuum to the cannister.
