I realize there is a TSB regarding rough upshifts from 1-2 in this model due to a faulty pressure control solenoid after driving 40+ miles. I have a read at least one owner's report that they replaced the PCS but the problem re-occurred six months later. They then decided to simply live with it, and the car was still running 100K miles later. My question is: is the rough upshift simply an annoyance, or will it damage the tranny? The PCS is relatively inexpensive, but I understand replacing it is a pain.

yes, it is hard on the trans. replacing the pc solenoid and valve body should correct the problem, unless you have excessive internal wear.
