Hello, I have a 1999 Chevy Lumina 3.1 engine, It started out as a low pitched whistle that would only occur on stopping, I thought it was the breaks, but the noise continued after stopping. Now, it is a audible whistle, I opened the hood thinking maybe it was a vacuum hose, but the whistling is coming from under the car. And it goes all the time now. Could you give me some ideas on what it could be? It almost sounds like the whistle of a vacuum cleaner. Any help would be great. :)

do you have check engine light on ?
if so check for codes
codes may offer some pin points to what is going on
if its an engine or tranny issue

check intake manifold gasket
