1999 Chevy Lumina Charging System

I replace the altenator on my car today because it was not charging the battery. The new altenator charged the battery for about 30 minutes but then the battery ran dead again. Does anyone know my problem???

You may have a bad contact to power or ground. Have you had the battery tested?
