I recently got my car back from my neighbour. He had to towed over to his yard so he would be able to replace my starter for me as it had gone out. When I got my car back everything seemed fine until I went to the store and went over a speed bump. S my car hit the other side of the speed bump this awefull sound came from behind me as kind of a loud screechy, groaning sound. Once past those all sounds returned to normal but gradually little things started emerging, that little pot hole in the ground made my car groan and now when I drive accelerating below 30 mph causes it to groan, and now when I push down on the back end it will groan when at first it wouldnt.

So are the struts the problem? Could the tow truck have caused the problem when my car got towed to my neighbours house? How much am I looking at to fix it?

If I had to guess, I would say that you have a broken a coil spring. Have your neighbor check that. It could be cracked and hard to find, but based on your description, that is what it sounds like. Also, as far as the tow truck, if it was a flat bed, I would say it had nothing to do with it. If it was hooked with the rear tires on the ground, it may have caused the problem, but there would have been nothing out of the ordinary the driver would have done.

Let me know about the coil spring.
