This happened last winter, went away for the spring, summer and fall.. then returned during the cold weather.

When I come to a stop, the car is slipped into neutral. I shift it down to L1... wait to feel it engage, then it's fine. The car shifts fine otherwise. This also is the case when I start it in the morning. It won't engage reverse, until I shift into L1.. feel it engage, then it will engage reverse. All is well until I hit a stop sign/stop light. Fluid level is good. Via a recommendation, I tried an additive.. no go.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. God bless,

Well yesterday, it got up near the 40s, and it only did it once. When the temp drops down to around 35 or lower, it does it constantly. Like in my original posting, it completely went away during the spring, summer and fall.

Any idears? I only have another 2 months and it'll go away.. I'd rather fix it tho. :)

I have a 92 Lumina and the trans has started slipping when it is in OD when I get off the free way and come to a stop at a light it acts like it is in neutral until I put in L1 feel it engage and then go. I have learned how to get around it by only driving in OD while on the free way and D when on the street. It doesn't give me any problems at all. Except that now when it is cold it will not go into gear until it has been cranked for 10 minutes.

The only advice there is, is to start saving up for a new trans now and keep fluid full. That is what I am doing.
