1997 Chevy Lumina fuel pump

I put a fuel pump in and I got it started once and I shut it off to fix the vacumm hose and it would not start again

When you turn key to On position do you hear the fuel pump come On for 2 secs? If so check the actual fuel pressure with a gauge and come back with the readings.
