1997 Chevy Lumina Engine noise

On my 1997 Chevy Lumina the car pings under load even with 93 octane gas. I also have an engine lifter making some noise and is there anything to quiet this other than replacing it?

Hi:
Have the knock sensor tested. It's job is to fine tune timing to before it pings (as far advanced as possible with a ping). If it is bad, this can happen.
