1997 Chevy Lumina belt breaks

1997 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl

ive replaced the serpintine belt,and the plastic pully on the tension bar,and it has broke two belts.all the pullies spin.after a couple mins. the belt starts to smoke and then snaps

If it doesn't start burning right away, that tells me there is an accessory locking up. By any chance was the ac or defroster on when you did this?
