1996 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 166,oo miles

car always ran fine, while starting one day, it backfired and won't start now, only backfires like the timing is screwed up. can anyone help?

camshaft position sensor is on cylinder head. the crankshaft position sensor is at the end of crankshaft behind harmonic balancer
