1996 Chevy Lumina V8 Manual 186341 miles

Van, used to be hard starting once van had been running for a while. The seemed like if cooled down it would start. The other day I left it running for maybe an hour straight and it got really hot, almost boiled over. It never started since. Changed the fuel filter and fuel pump but no go. If you hook the fuel pump up direct to an outside battery it would pump fuel hook it back to van and turn key, won`t pump fuel? Do you know what this can be and advise a solution. Serial number is IGUNDUO671TT118808

You really should use a fuel pressure gauge when checking that. It's only supposed to power for 2 seconds when the key is turned on and then doesn't repower until it sees a tach signal so we need to know exactly how it is acting.
