Transmission problem
2006 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi. The button you push to release the floor shifter and put the car in gear is frozen. It is locked and will not engage, therefore I can't put the car in gear. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try checking the transmission linkage. It may be damaged, jammed or one of my all time favorite practical jokes.....wired or tied off so it wont move. Just look under the car and find the transmission pan. The linkage is the cable/rod looking thing bolted to the side of the pan. Hope this helps.
