I filled up the coolant resivoir. next time I checked it, it was empty. filled it up again. same thing later. it was empty. I know its going somewhere. Dont think head gasket is bad . It does not run rough. when its idling, it sometimes increases idle and then decreases, like the air conditioner is on, when it is not. any ideas?

best thign you can do is let the vehicle run and pop the hood and park the vehicle over a dry spot in a garage, then keep checking for leaks to appear if nothing, shut it off and continue looking, if nothing appears even when the engine is cold then its leaking internally.

do you notice excessive white exhaust?

You may want to have it pressure tested at a shop. I have had to replace several cylinder head gaskets on these.
