2005 Chevy Impala windshield wipers

When I turn my windshield wipers off they stop in the upright possion instead of laying down.

Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
Turn the wiper switch to OFF.
Disconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
Do the wipers park?

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Measure the voltage from the wiper/washer switch connector (vehicle side), terminal B6, to ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?
1.0 V
Go to Step 6

Replace the wiper motor cover. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement.

Did you complete the replacement?

Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
Measure the voltage from the wiper motor connector, terminal D, to ground.
Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?
1.0 V

Replace the wiper motor cover. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement.

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 113. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
