My Impala makes a very loud knocking noise anytime my foots not on the pedal. It quits being as loud or stops all together when I am pressing either the gas or the brake. What could this be?

Hi:
This is an interesting one. Can you tell what area of the car the noise comes from? Do you hear the sound when you are moving, stopped, or all of the time?

It is coming from the front as far as I can tell. Anytime I'm moving and my foot isn't on either pedal it makes the knocking.

I would start with having the front axles / CV joints checked.
