2004 Chevy Impala Speedometer failure

I have a 2004 Chevy Impala with 72000 miles on it. The speedometer reads 60 mph when the car is stopped or off. As the car is running and when I accelerate the speedometer tops out at 120 mph when I am really going 40 mph. Any suggestions would be helpfull to sustain costly repairs.

sounds like the stepper motors went bad. you need to replace the IP cluster
