I have a 2002 Chevy Impala with 153,000 miles this just started yesterday I started my car and all of a sudden it sound like I added pipes to it my brother-in-law told me it was my Catalytic Converter i popped the hood and listen and the noise sound like it was coming from the front of the car could that be the problem?

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion, but he may be right. You need to have the car in a position that you can access the exhaust, preferably on a lift.

Look for black areas at joints, the exhaust manifold, converter etc. Carbon escaping with leave that trail. Without touching the system, feel for escaping exhaust pressure form suspected areas. Use your ears to narrow it down first.
