2002 Chevy Impala cAR WONT DRIVE RIGHT

2002 Chevy Impala

I was at the light and when I pressed the gas to go the car wouldnt move I put it in reverse it did. So I placed it back in drive and it still wouldn't drive I had to press the gas and make it and it strained to move as if I was holding the brake while gasing it.Now it drives funny as if my tire going flat and its not.But thats how its doing,what can it be? Please help and hope its something not to serious?

sounds like a possibe transmission problem. i suggest having a professional look at it
