I am surprised to hear that the A/C is causing your engine to stall.
I had a similar problem with the engine stalling with no apparent reason or indication and after a few minutes it would start and drive like nothing was wrong with it.
Like your mechanic, my mechanic replaced the ignition module. When it happened again, he re-installed the ignition module (which was still good) and changed the crankshaft position sensor (which will shut off power to the module if it malfunctions). That was 3 years ago, and no problems with stalling since.
Ask your mechanic to reinstall your original ignition module, and repair your problem by replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
It works.
