When I begin to accelerate my car there is a knocking noise that sounds like it is coming from the steering wheel almost as if it is loose. Mostly does it when going at low speeds, when stopping, sometimes when turning, over ruff roads, and when accelerating from a stop. Do you have and any idea's of what this could be and how can this problem be corrected.

Hi kaanowli,

There was a service bullitin (No. 01-02-32-001B) that addressed a clunking noise during low speed acceleration and decelleration, typically in light turns of the steering wheel.

The cause is inadequate lubrication of the intermediate steering shaft which results in a "slip stick" condition possibly resulting in the clunking noise.

The Corrective action is to remove the Intermediate Steering Shaft from the vehicle, lubricate the shaft with Steering Column Shaft Lubrication Kit,
P/N 26098237, and reinstall.

That's what the bulletin says. When I took my car to the dealer for the same problem, they replaced the Intermediate Steering Shaft at a cost of $260.

Good luck.
