My key wont turn in my impala. I can turn the wheels on it and have tried to turn them from side to side. Still can't turn the key at all. I'm not sure why I can turn the wheels, guess the lock didn't engage which could be the problem. Any answers? Thanks

There is a module called the BTSI (Brake Transmission Shift Interlock). It's possible that this module is not functioning correctly and if so, it should set a code in the body computer. Another possiblity is the ignition switch itself is not working properly, but I think I would have possibilty #1 checked 1st.

Can you move the shifter and if so, can you turn the key in neutral?
