I started my car and heard a loud screeching sound I immediatly cut the car off then I restarted the noise went away so I proceeded home to find steam coming from under my hood. When taken to the shop I was Quoted $675 is this common and maybe I need a new cooling fan. The fan keeps blowing the fuse each time I replace it and try to run the car could you please give me some advice?[img:8560470753]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/198097_l_02b7f5042d39cc48430be45f81a6d4a0_1.jpg[/img:8560470753]

Steam from under the hood doesent necissarily mean a head gasket, can be anything from a blown hose, radiator, recovery tank, waterpump,,,etc,,,etc,,,the screaching may have been the serpentine belt, More info would be needed, but 675.00 is VEY cheap if a head gasket is being done for that!
