Engine Cooling problem
2001 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 2001 Chevy Impala the Low ingine coolant light is on and I cant figure out why because there is coolant in the reserve tank also I checked the radiator when the car was cool and it had coolant yet the light is still on. The temp gauge marks right in the middle and it seems like the faster the speed the higher the gauge goes but if driving 55 or less it goes slightly down or maintains in the middle Reason for my concern the gauge was never in the middle it would usually read at about 1/4. I already had the thermostat replaced it didn't help at all.....What else could it be?

The sensor the the low coolant is very likely bad. You can either re[lace the sensor, or check the level every so often. The gauge being in the middle wouldn't phase me. You might want to check for any build up of debris in the front of the radiator.
