2001 Chevy Impala changing brake pads

When changing my brakes and the new pads don't go back over the roder how do i get them to go back over the roder do i have to bleed the line i hope not because the last time i changed brakes in an older model car and the pedal when all the way down to the floor so what it the best way to do it.
