2000 Chevy Impala wierd plug

2000 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

there is a 3 prong electric plug (like a household appliance would have) hanging under the engine compartment. It is in the factory wiring harness so I was unable to trace it back to anything. What is that for?

Sounds like a block heater if so should run to heater on side of engine
