my 2000 impala is acting up real bad.

1. fuel does not free flow into fuel line at thegas pump. 'fuel pump will cut off after a gallan or so if i try to keep forcing fuel down fast it will start leaking under my car somewhere right by the rear tirewell'

2. as soon as i get in car and drive it starts spitting sputtering rpms spike and drops then dies cycle continuies till on the freeway after about 70 mph it runs ok then i can bring it down a little and runs descent. it runs just fine at high speeds evan around 100 mph. some times when it gets really bad when i turn the car over to activate the pump it just pushes fuel out like crazy from im guessing an overflow valve.

i have tried replacing the purge valve canister , fuel pump and going to try the fuel filter tomorrow. also ther is a splice in a line leading up to where it leaks from . like someone cut off and put back together again. im going to try an clamp it. maybe air leaking through there. im really stumped and so is a couple of machanics.

do you think you may know what might be causing it? im sure the fuel spilling out and not going down quickly is a good sign of something but i just dont know what it could be.

thanks very much .. and sorry for the poor spelling its late and im frustrated.

my van does that. did you try pulling the pump out alittle ways and see if it fills it. sometimes the sensors on the pumps are to sensitive for gm filler necks. just pull it out alittle
