My impala starts great, idles great and cruises great but when accelerating at about 45 mph it sputters a little. I would think if it was a filter it would do it all of the time. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help,

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks and fuel pump pressure?

Let me know what you find. Remember, with the engine running, you may be able to hear a hissing sound from a leak.

After about 4 months, three dealerships and many conversations with mechanics I finally found the fix to this problem. One dealer had no idea and the other wanted to replace my transmission. At the third dealership (Al Serra) the transmission expert recalled an issue back in the 2000-2001 time frame. After speaking to the Engineers at GM in Warren Michigan they suggested disconnecting the battery cables for 8 hours and this would re-set the shifting sequence. It's been about a week and I have had no sputtering issues. I hope this helps others with the same issue as this could have cost up-wards of $2000.

Thanks for your help.
