Help me please, anyone? We own a 2000 Impala LE and it jerks when the gears change, it's an automatic. Does anyone know if a flush, filter change would help? The tranny oil doesn't smell burnt, still redish brown and seems to be clean. I was wondering if it could be the shift selenoids? Can you please tell me once it starts having htese problems, is it worth having it looked at or is it hooped?

Chances are it is the shift solenoid, vehicle speed sensor, or it does just need serviced.

When was the last trans service done? Also, trans fluid is red and shouldn't have a brown tint to it, so I'm going to say it does need serviced.

Yes, it is worth having checked. The trans in the car is usually very reliable. Chances are it is something simple.

Finally, has the check engine light come on?

Hi, thank-you for your reply. It hasn't been serviced yet and the engine light has not come on. The other day, it never did it for 1.5 hours of constant driving, but it's still jerking when it changes gears now. Maybe a tempature thing?

I would start with a simple service. I have seen trans filters that have plugged enough to cause problems.

It is the cheapest place to start. If it doesn't help, then we will move on. Also, I strongly feel that if one of the sensors was bad, it would have set the light.
