2000 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My timing belt broke.. So I went and got another one then after a trip around the block this pne broke too.. I dont know why.. why would this happen

Timing belt ??? you dont have a timing belt on this model
or serpentine belt check and suspect tensioner pulley
