1963 Chevy Impala car antenna

My radio is the original 1963 and has been rebuilt. However, the pick up from the antenna is full of static and the signal drops in and out on the move. I believe you can tune an antenna to get rid of this problem. How do you do that?

tuning an antenna is for getting peak performance out of sending a signal, not receiving it.

the wire from the antenna to the radio might have an open.
