2003 Chevy Express fuel gage

Fuel gage is the only one not working. I checked fuse box no luck! Van has half tank of gas but needle shows empty! Could it be the fuel pump??

very possible
disconnect it at the tank and check with a test light if it goes up then the sending unit is no good
