Electrical problem
1987 Chevy El Camino V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My tach has 3 studs in the back that plug into 3 clips. What feeds each clip and what are the readings supposed to be for each. My tach goes all over, back and forth from o to max when running or just cranking. Any ideas?
Thanks, Don

one might be a 12 volt supply one may be ground and another would be the tach going to the coil or where its 'pick up is. You probably have a bad tach.
