1985 Chevy El Camino No crank/start

when i turn the key on i can hear the fuel pump turn on but the car wont crank or turn over. i thought i might have a dead spot in the starter so i bumped it with someone turning the key and still had nothing what else could be the problem and what else conld i look for and try

Check the ignition switch, park and neutral switch and starter
