There is a problem with my 1976 el camino, I used to think there was a problem with my ignition but I replaced it and a new neutral safety switch, but when I connect the plug with the pink and green wire it sparks and if my car is in the "on" position it will automatically engage the starter and keep it on until I disconnect it, when I pull the "directional/back-up light" fuse it doesnt spark any more and everything seems ok, and my reverse lights dont work but I am figuring thats the green wire, thanks please help

The closest I have to a 76 is a 73 model but it should be very close to the same. The pinkto light green is the back up light circuit. The purple to purple white stripe shoud go to othe starter. You may be crossing the wrong color wire thinking it 's the right one. The yellow with double black stripe deals with the seat belt switch. It's possible that over the years the color of wires have faded and you are actually crossing the wrong wires. These should have connectors anyhow going to the correct spot ont he corresponding switches.
