1986 vette 79,000 mi 5.7 4/3 tranny. Car idles high for an extended time, 5-15 seconds before idling down, stays between 12-1800 rpm

The car is doing excatly what is supposed to do. It is part of the cold start system. To make sure the motor is at the right temp. Before taking off.
