I have a 75 corvette L48-350. I have changed the starter/the battery, and had the altanator checked. The problem I have is when I try to dtart the car it acts like it has a bad solanoid.I can jump start the car and it run fine until it is turned off. Then it has to be rejumped. This has me stumped because I have changed or tested wverything in the starting system.

Got to make sure that purple wire while disconnected from the solenoid is receiving full battery voltage when key is in start position.

And triple check all connections involved in the starter control circuit.

you are correct that it was a connection problem, however nothing was lose.the red wire going into the altanator was broken inside the plug, thus giving a bad connection.the way i found this was i went to retest the altator it came apart.iwill let you know what happens after i change the plug today.
