2002 Chevy Corvette Low Fuel Light coming on

I'm looking to purchase a 2002 Chev Corvette and the fuel gauge is showing full however the electronic display comes on LOW FUEL. Have any idea what may be causing this problem and how to fix it? Current owner states he puts additive in tank and this cleans contacts and corrects the problem? Fact or Fiction?

Sensor is in the tank so why don't you have him put the cleaner in and see if it goes out. If not knock off a few hundred for droping tank and replacing. Check with Chevy I think it comes as an assembly and is quite expensive.
