2000 Chevy Corvette valve tap

My 2000 Corvette has a noticeable valve tap that is clearly evident at start up and then quites down after the engine is warm. Is this unusual and is there anything that is relatively inexpensive to fix it?

Engine is equipped with non-adjustable hydraulic valve lifters.
check and change oil
try and use syntactic oil
