I want to change from a 2:59 stock gear ratio to a 3:73 Ratio what do I need to do besides change the ring and pinion . Is this to much of a change for street driving. Do I need to put in a different chip .

That's not too much gear if that's what you want. Just expect to cruise at around 3000 r.p.m.s while you're doing 60 on the highway. (Piss pore gas mileage)

For maximum performance, you should reprogram your computer. Also, the computer won't be able to calculate the vehicle speed anymore, so a new chip is a necessity.
