I have a 1986 corvette and I have a problem with the 10amp fuse blowing. It say's gauges at its location. There are 10 or so items under that fuse map lights climate control purge canister, cruise control. When it blows if I have my lights on the chimes go off because the chime circuit is involved thinking the car is turned off and head lights are still on. I don't know were to start to find what is causing it to blow. I did have a in line fuse put in the few circuits that are under the hood to try and tell if the problem is in the engine compartment or inside the car at dash. Has anyone every had this problem and what might have been causing the fuse to blow.

Best guess. Is the wire loom in the car been changed? Yes! Radio or car alarm system? Previous owners? A can of worms. First remove the fuse for the radio and interior lights. See if the car works better? The wiring system has been breeched. The correcct info to the ecm has been intruppeted. You need to restore the system to factory specks. Remove the car alarm system. If you look under the trim on drivers side you will find all kinds of splices in the wiring. Radio, alarm system. Remove the links. And restore the original wiring. If you do that you will have a real car back. But always disconnect the battery before attempting a repair on own. Good Luck
