I am replacing the stock HEI distributor with a Mallory Unilite distributor and separate coil. The Unilite distributor has 3 wires as follows,

Red wire connects to the (+) coil terminal
Green wire to the (-) coil terminal
Brown wire to the engine ground

The wiring for the HEI distributor is as follows,

Red wire (power to the coil)
Brown wire (to tachometer)

What do I connect these 2 wires to? I think it is,

Red to the (+) coil terminal
Brown to the (-) coil terminal

IS THIS CORRECT?

That distributor uses a ballast resistor and a H.E.I, dose not, with out it at some point it will burn out the ignition module. The pos 12 volt wire from the H.E.I, located in the outer slot of the cap goes to the 12 volt side of the resistor, the red wire from the unilite goes to the same place, pos 12 volt side of resistor. The outlet side of the resistor goes to pos + side of coil. The green goes to the neg - side of the coil, the brown goes to a good ground, make sure you use a good clean ground. Also just in case, you must use suppression type plug wires, solid core will not work.
Hope that helps.
