1996 Chevy Corsica crossed a wire by accident

i was working on the alternator and the battery cable fell back into place , when this happend there was a spark on the alternator and a puff of smoke from the front end , now it will start but the battery light is on , what happend do you think ? thanks

Hi there,

check charge system fuses and fusible link, if ok have generator tested for a fault.

thanks for the help mark , i have been playing around and found one burnt wire to the silinoid , replaced it and the battery charges , but the utilites still will not work , i am having a little trouble finding the fuseable link .
