1994 corsica makes a knocking noise when first accellerating or going uphill. The sound comes from around the front passenger area. Does not seem to be a problem with tire and strut was replaced about 6 months ago. Getting speed is difficult after stop or going uphill. Once car gets past 30 miles per hour it is fine unless it goes uphill. Any ideas?

Sounds more like pinging/detonating-check the knock sensor and the EGR valve.
