Hello, I've seen universal kits in the autostores for replacing that assembly. I thought it was a little pricey? I guess you just reroute it like the old one.

I have an old chevy out front, different model than yours, the release cable broke. I could reach the top mechanism through the grill. I tied a wire to the top release mechanism and at the bottom, tied it to part of body frame. To release the hood, I reach under the bumper, grab wire and pull. It works for me, may not work for you. Just a thought.
