I replaced the heater core in my '93 Chevy Corsica last winter and the heat was still not very warm so had a new thermostat put in a couple months ago. Still tepid heat. Not enough to defrost ice!
I pulled into mechanics shop last week and just as I did the radiator hose ($70 item) blew up. They replaced that and told me it was probably the head-gasket that was leaking as a reason for my heater problems!
The car runs like a little "Singer" sewing machine and I hate to let it go but don't feel like I can afford to pay the labor involved in replacing head gasket. Could it be something else? Is it possible it's just the water pump? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you. Deanna

Test the radiator cap or replace it as this is a big cause of no heat. As long as your coolant is full and not leaks are apparent you should have heat. Another thing may b air in the system. There should be a bleeder screw near the top of theater line on the passenger side. In order to getteh air out you will need to have the front end up and run the car- a hill would be ok then run it when it gets hot, open the screw a little bit until water /coolant comes out in a tiny stream. Look for spitting as thatmeans there is air inthe system. Bleed it until coolant comes out. That should fix it. If it's not somehting else
