Engine Cooling problem
1991 Chevy Corsica 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1991 Chevy Corsica. I was driving it the other day on the interstate and the temp gauge went to the half way mark then I the car died. After 1 hour it started back up. My coolant was boiling inside my over fill tank. Then sometimes when I am driving it just dies then it starts right back up and runs fine. What could cause all of this? Thanks

Has the check engine light come on? As far as the overheating, it could be a plugged radiator, bad thermostat, bad headgasket...

Here are How To's for checking the t-stat and engine compression to check for a bad head gasket. NOTE: If you replace the t-stat, I would recommend having the radiator and cooling system flushed.

Let me know what you find.
